Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs for short) are ubiquitous in our environment - they are produced in every combustion process or through abrasion. Some variants are considered carcinogenic. In the horse sector, they are used as softeners, e.g. in stable floor coverings, in saddle pads or in feeding technology.
And that's why a migration analysis of PAHs is useful. On the basis of strict guideline values, the experts of the DLG Test Center Technology and Farm Inputs assess whether PAHs from horse accessories enter the environment and award the DLG Seal of Quality "PAH safe" if the guideline values are met.

- Laboratory analyses: Checking the total content of PAHs and the migration of PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)
- Verification of compliance with the guideline values: Migration guideline value of 5 μg/dm² for the sum of the 8 EU REACH PAHs and of 10 μg/dm² for the sum of the 15+1 EU SCF PAHs.
