Products for soil protection liming

In cooperation with the Freiburg Regional Council, Department 8 Forestry Directorate, the Forest Research and Testing Institute of Freiburg (FVA) and some lime works, a testing guideline has been developed that allows only pre-tested products to be applied to the forests in the context of soil protection liming.

With the DLG quality mark, we create security through internal factory controls, tight sampling grids drawn by in-house, qualified samplers as well as by neutral external samplers. The products only leave the lime plant when they have successfully passed the laboratory analyses.

Dolomite and dolomite-wood ash mixtures are used. Depending on the product, the following parameters are examined:

• Moisture
• pH value
• Reactivity
• Nutrient content
• Content of harmful substances
• Sieving

Before processing, the raw materials dolomite and wood ash are subjected to a recognition analysis that focuses on the analysis of harmful substances. This results in synergy effects for plants that already participate in the DLG Fertilising Lime Quality Mark. 

When the wood ashes are delivered to the lime works, they are continuously sampled and again the focus is on contaminant control.

Before the mixed end products leave the mixing plant, the nutrient content and sieving are continuously monitored. This is carried out in close rotation and with varying intensity. In a basic analysis, value-giving constituents are examined; in a full analysis, this analysis is again supplemented by the examination of harmful substances.
