DLG – certified quality

Frequently asked questions about DLG food testing

DLG TestService offers testing programmes for a wide range of food and beverage categories. These assessments are tailored to the specific characteristics of each product and take into account product-specific requirements and evaluation criteria.

DLG TestService offers the right assessment programme depending on the product category and your specific objectives. Examples include:

  • Quality tests for the independent evaluation of food and beverages, benchmarking against competing products, external verification of product quality, and qualification for a DLG award. The award makes quality visible at the point of sale (POS) and supports marketing activities aimed at consumers.
  • Animal welfare assessments, which enable companies to demonstrate that their farming and husbandry practices exceed statutory minimum requirements. This creates transparency and allows higher animal welfare standards to be clearly communicated on the product.
  • Sustainability assessments and awards, which verify that a product has been produced in accordance with recognised sustainability criteria and that compliance with these criteria has been independently assessed. The award provides consumers with reliable guidance when making purchasing decisions.

These assessment programmes help you identify the most suitable testing option for your product and objectives. We will, of course, be happy to help you find the right assessment programme for your specific needs. Please get in touch – our experts will be pleased to provide personal advice and work with you to identify the best solution for your requirements.

After registering with DLG TestService, the product is assessed against defined criteria. These include sensory evaluations as well as supplementary analyses and, where applicable, assessments of packaging and labelling. The results are documented and form part of the basis for the overall evaluation.

The assessment conducted by DLG TestService is based on product-specific criteria. These include sensory attributes such as taste, aroma, appearance and texture, as well as additional evaluations, for example relating to packaging and labelling.

DLG TestService employs trained experts for sensory evaluation, who assess products against clearly defined criteria. The assessment covers attributes such as taste, aroma, appearance and texture. The results form part of the overall product evaluation and are a key component of the testing process.

Registration for DLG TestService assessments is carried out via the respective testing programmes and scheduled test dates. There you will find all relevant information on participation, as well as the requirements for the products to be submitted.

DLG TestService conducts food quality assessments on a regular basis at scheduled testing dates. Current test dates are published on the pages of the respective product categories. A comprehensive overview can also be found here.

The test results provide an objective basis for evaluating and further developing your products. They support internal quality assessments and enable benchmarking. The form in which the results are provided (e.g. a report, award or quality mark) depends on the respective testing programme.
