The DLG quality label “ACCORDING TO GERMAN STANDARDS” confirms that products and production processes have been assessed in accordance with defined German production and quality standards. 

The awarding of the label is based on the certification of relevant production processes as well as the independent evaluation of the products by qualified experts.

For consumers, this means orientation, safety, and a transparent quality commitment.

For manufacturers and retailers, it means a recognised quality seal that supports differentiation in a competitive market environment, strengthens brand trust, and facilitates international market activities.

Quality from production to the finished product – assessed according to German standards

The DLG certification mark “ACCORDING TO GERMAN STANDARDS” confirms compliance with defined German quality benchmarks along the entire value chain – from production to the tested final product. It provides orientation and builds trust worldwide by transparently documenting the conformity of manufacturing processes and product quality with German standards.

For the awarding of the certification mark:

  • the analytical integrity and overall quality of the food product are assessed through comprehensive testing, and
  • the manufacturing process at the production facilities is certified on site in accordance with the DLG quality standard.

DLG experts not only test the food product itself, but also inspect and certify its manufacturing process.

Each product has been analytically tested. In addition, the manufacturing process has been inspected and certified. By entering the control number on the website, this information can be verified.

Standards & test criteria

Food products bearing the certification mark “ACCORDING TO GERMAN STANDARDS” have undergone comprehensive assessment by experts from DLG TestService. For this certification mark, DLG TestService has developed a standardised certification and testing procedure that is aligned with the requirements of German quality standards and carried out in two coordinated stages:

Stage 1

Certification of the manufacturing process

  • Inspection of all production sites involved in the manufacturing process
  • Quality standards defined by DLG experts (including aspects of sustainability, good professional practice, and social responsibility)
  • Transparency, safety, and traceability throughout the production process
  • Sensory and analytical controls during manufacturing

Stage 2

Assessment of the food product

  • Scientifically up‑to‑date testing criteria
  • Sensory and analytical expert tests
  • Evaluation of the food product using anonymised samples, without any knowledge of the manufacturer
  • Product‑specific laboratory tests, e.g. authenticity verification, residue analysis
