Value-added programmes for sustainability and animal welfare

With its quality programmes, DLG TestService promotes sustainable and future-proof agriculture and food production, as well as their social acceptance. The focus is on sustainability and animal welfare.

DLG dairy farming programme

The DLG dairy farming programme promotes animal-friendly husbandry of dairy cows. It includes requirements for space, contact with the outdoor climate, high-quality feed, enrichment materials and health care, as well as many other important requirements for animal-friendly husbandry. The additional animal welfare benefits are demonstrated by four different labels. The DLG Dairy Cattle Farming Programme has been in place since June 2020. It was developed in collaboration with experts and in accordance with common quality management systems in the dairy cattle sector.

DLG standard ‘Sustainable Agriculture’

The DLG's sustainability programme aims to promote sustainable food production – in both arable farming and dairy farming. The programme consists of a total of 23 indicators in the areas of ecology, social issues, economics and management. The ecological indicators are adapted to the specific branch of agriculture in question. In addition to remuneration and training and further education in the social sphere, the economic indicators include the equity ratio and net cash flow.
