Only well-groomed udder skin can be easily cleaned and is less sensitive to the mechanical stresses of milking. It is more difficult for mastitis pathogens to adhere to it.
The DLG quality mark for udder hygiene products is awarded in the product groups:
- Milking fats/milking emulsions
- Teat dip (also medicinal products)
- Teat cleaning agents
- Milk cell tests
Udder hygiene agents
Udder hygiene products with the DLG quality mark are tested to ensure that they:
- Have a good skin care effect
- Do not spread mastitis pathogens
- Do not cause inhibitors in the milk
- Do not contain undesirable substances
Milk cell tests
Milk cell tests must be consistent with the routine method used in milk quality testing.
