DLG TestService:

Homologation for front-mounted camera monitor systems (VKMS)

Your partner for legally compliant testing

The new Traffic Gazette 09/2025 for vehicles with restricted fields of vision due to front overhangs exceeding 3.5 m introduces relevant adjustments for the approval of camera monitor systems. The 2016 version has been completely replaced – this has a direct impact on existing systems.

The DLG TestService - Test Center Technology and Farm Input supports you in getting your systems approved quickly, safely, and in compliance with standards – based on the current recommendation.

The most important new features of the recommendation:

  • Updated field of vision definitions and more flexibility in terms of the eye point position
  • Extended technical requirements
    • Radiated immunity in accordance with IEC EN 61000-4-3 required.
    • Object size on the monitor: more precise requirements for day and night conditions
    • IP protection classes: IP65 now applies to the entire system, while IP69 continues to apply to cameras.
  • New mounting options: suction cup mounts and automatic lens covers permitted

What does this mean for you?

Your existing KMS configurations should be reviewed and adjusted to remain legally compliant and secure. Take advantage of our experience now to shorten development times and secure market access.
